Barb Olson

As a native North Dakotan and longtime Montana resident, I am happy to call Minnesota my current home. I grew up in a large, typical Catholic family and attended 16 years of Catholic schools. My husband AJ and I met in college, married and moved to Montana, where we lived for 24 years before our move to Minnesota in 2005. We have two adult children--a daughter, son-in-law & granddaughter living in Nashville, and a son living in Boise. We enjoy traveling to see them and other family and friends. My hobbies include jewelry making, reading the news, and motorcycle trips with my husband.

In 2007, I was granted the opportunity to serve the parish of Our Lady of the Lake as Faith Formation Director and have continued in this role through many changes, including the transition into the newly merged parish of Mary of the Visitation. My ministry here has been a blessing to me as I have helped guide our young people on their faith journey, rejoiced with them as they celebrated sacraments, and watched them as they moved forward into the world as young adults. It has been a privilege to assist the parents of this faith community  in this most important task.

Our MIssion

We, the people of Mary of the Visitation parish,

are a Catholic community

bound together by the Word of God,

sacramental worship,

and the call to service

Our Motto

"See Christ In Others;

        Be Christ For Others!”

Our Vision

Through the proclamation of the Word of God

and embraced by the gifts of the Holy Spirit,

we seek to be welcoming,

to grow spiritually,

to see Christ’s presence in others,

and to offer our care and service to all.
