All Things New Transition Teams
As we work to move forward with our upcoming changes, we will be forming the following teams:
- Transition Team - this appointed team will meet with each of the transition teams from both MOTV & St. Marcus to ensure all plans are being made consistently.
- Property Evaluation Team - this team will evaluate the future of the Big Lake properties in accordance with diocesan guidelines. Their work includes assessing the value and potential uses of all buildings and land, exploring options such as leasing, repurposing, or sale, and identifying potential buyers or interested parties. They will make recommendations to the parish leadership.
- Building Transition & Planning Team - This team will assist in the planning for the parish's facility needs as we transition from multiple Mary of the Visitation properties to one location in Becker. Members will evaluate future space needs for worship, ministry, faith formation, and fellowship; develop concepts for future building improvements and expansion; inventory and preserve meaningful items from each church property; and make recommendations regarding storage, relocation, reuse, or disposal of parish assets. The team will also assist in creating timelines, exploring costs, and helping ensure that the history and sacred heritage of all three church buildings are honored.
- Faith Handed Down Team - this team will gather and preserve the history of the Big Lake church by collecting photos, stories, and memories from parishioners, clergy, and archived church materials. They will document the life of the parish through interviews, photographs, and written stories, and help ensure important people, events, and milestones are recorded. The team will then compile this material into meaningful keepsakes such as books, videos, or other memorial projects to honor and celebrate the legacy of the Big Lake church.
- Closing Rituals Team - this team will coordinate and plan the liturgical and pastoral events marking the closing of the Big Lake building. Working with the diocesan worship office and Liturgical Commission, they will help prepare and support the official closing rituals, including a Liturgy of Loss and Hope and the final Closing Eucharistic Liturgy with the bishop. The committee will ensure that parishioners are able to meaningfully remember, pray, and give thanks for the life of the parish as part of this sacred transition.
- Hospitality & Welcome Integration Team - this team will help parishioners from the closing campus transition into the remaining campus by fostering connection, hospitality, and belonging. They will organize practical support such as greeters, seating assistance, transportation, and accessibility needs, while also planning events and initiatives that build relationships between the two communities. Through symbolic unity activities, shared gatherings, and intentional outreach, the team will help weave the parish into one welcoming and connected community.
Tables with information & sign-up sheets will be available after all Masses the weekends of July 11/12 & July 18/19.
